Job Overview
We are recruiting Registered Nurses (RGNs and RMNs) for prison healthcare services across the Midlands. This role involves delivering care within a secure environment, supporting patients with complex physical and mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care within a prison setting
- Conduct physical and mental health assessments
- Administer medication in line with NMC and prison protocols
- Manage long-term conditions and acute presentations
- Respond to medical emergencies
- Support patients with substance misuse and complex needs
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Work with prison officers and healthcare teams
- Follow safeguarding and security procedures
Requirements
- Valid NMC registration (RGN or RMN)
- Minimum 6–12 months UK nursing experience
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
- Up-to-date mandatory training
- Strong clinical judgement
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments
Desirable Skills
- Experience in prison or secure settings
- Knowledge of substance misuse and dual diagnosis
- De-escalation and breakaway training (PMVA/MAPA)
- Strong safeguarding awareness
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
