Band 5 Community Children's Nurse

The purpose of this role is to undertake clinical shifts in children’s own homes to meet their clinical needs.

-We are looking for Paediatric nurses or RGN nurses who have Paediatric experience (3months minimum community experience) 
-A 3 Month Block booking, with the opportunity for it to be extended 

-Mostly waking night shifts

-Pay rate up to £50 per hour 

Key Responsibilities:

 

The post holder will

·        Work clinically with children and young people under the age of 18 years.

·        Ensure that care is delivered to agreed standards and within the policy framework of Sirona: care and health and NMC guidelines

·        Be responsible for maintaining and updating own clinical competence and skills

·        Promote a family centred approach to care

·        Ensure knowledge of the conditions that affect the children on the Lifetime caseload

·        Liaise with the band 6 Lifetime  nurses who oversee the children care package as required.

·        Provide nursing interventions to children, their families and staff in accordance with the Lifetime Service and Sirona Care and health policies and procedures this can include, tracheostomy care, ventilation skills, suctioning, pulse oximeter monitoring in accordance with the childs individualised care plan.

·        Maintain clinical records in accordance with NMC standards

SKILLS

Essential:

·        Registered Children’s nurse

·        Effective IT literacy skills

·        Excellent communication skills and an ability to work in multi-disciplinary environments

·        Car driver

 

Desirable:

·        Paediatric intensive care/paediatric high dependency care experience

·        Experience in paediatric palliative care and complex health care

·        Ability to manage work autonomously

·        Experience of looking after children who have mechanical ventilation

·        Tracheostomy care

·        Care of gastrostomy tubes and buttons
